About Phil

Phil Homerski is first and foremost a dedicated husband and father.  He, his wife Lisa and their three children are all products of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic school system.

After more than four decades of educating, informing and engaging people as a communications professional in the public sector, Phil has continued his passion for connecting communities as an entrepreneur establishing his own consulting business, Homerski Consulting. Many of Phil’s successes have come about through his ability to facilitate collaborative solutions between multiple community members representing diverse interests.

As a community leader, Phil has introduced several new parent engagement initiatives in leadership positions with elementary and secondary School Councils and committees.  For example, Phil increased the profile of STEM sector activities in schools among influencers in private industry, municipal government and the school board.  He also established a charitable initiative that reflected Pope Francis’s declaration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy which involved both high school students and parents in an opportunity to serve and feed the homeless in our community.  Phil was recently recognized by the Army Cadet League of Canada (Ontario) for his dedication as a volunteer leader.  As a Corps Support Committee Chair and then a Liaison Officer, Phil encourages parent engagement in leadership and fundraising activities at both the Corps and regional levels.

Phil has always been highly involved in his home parishes.  From his early teens to today, Phil has been a dedicated Minister of the Word for countless Sunday and special liturgies.  Combining his love of his faith, volunteerism and leadership, Phil has more than a decade of involvement with the Knights of Columbus Council 10091 as Youth Volunteer, Communications Director and as Past Grand Knight.  Phil also has served as Chair of the Seminarian Internship Committee in his home parish.

Phil has worked tirelessly as a volunteer within the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board to support and encourage a values-based Christian environment for personal and spiritual development.  His concern for ensuring our youth are well supported and inspired to reach their potential is a driving force behind his desire to serve as Trustee.
